About
Sally

Hi I’m Sally, a Geelong based portrait photographer, specialising in contemporary & fine art portrait photography. I’ve been a photographer for over 17 years and photographed everything from newborns to weddings to landscapes and street photography. I came to a point in my career where felt I had stop photographing anything and everything, and to specialise in what I truly loved - portraits. Portraits is where my love of photography first began - way back in high school over 20 years ago. I’m thankful to all my amazing clients that I’ve had over the years that have entrusted me to capture some of their most momentous occasions, because without them, I certainly wouldn’t have been able to grow into the photographer I am today.

I’m a mother of two beautiful children - Tasma nine and Callum six. I have a partner/fiancé Wes whom I absolutely adore and who makes me laugh on the daily, he is by far my most strongest supporter. He co-directs a local picture framing business here in Geelong, Kardinia Picture Framing, alongside brother Scott.

I'm extremely passionate about capturing timeless, elegant portraits.  I take the fear out of having your portrait taken and there is no better feeling than capturing beautiful portraits of those who have “never” seen a beautiful photograph of themselves. Everyone deserves, and should have beautiful portraits of themselves and their families. It’s completely indescribable the way I feel when I’m photographing a family unit and then concentrating on each individual so that I can truly create the very best version of them.

Many people have this belief that you have to be ‘photogenic’ to be able to sit for a portrait. I‘m here to tell you this is far from the truth. I do not believe in the word photogenic. What I do believe in is a beautiful and classic portrait is taken through good direction, correct and flattering lighting, the use of classic backdrops, and of course post editing with a lot of attention to detail. All these elements make up a beautiful portrait, not just the person that you see in the photograph.

We don’t just take photos in my sessions. It’s an experience of making beautiful memories, which we just so happen to create works of art. Creating something you’d be so proud to hang on your walls.

Why do I love photos so much?

Photographs can be tangible and digital. Digital; you can share your memories with your loved ones all over the world.  Tangible; printed on exquisite fine art paper, ready to frame and display on your walls so you can view them every.single.day.

The value of a photograph is often only understood years after it as been taken which makes the importance of existing in photographs for you and your loved ones, crucial. I offer prints rather than supplying digital files alone in my pure portrait sessions.  I want the photographs I take for you to appear on your walls rather than being cast aside on a usb gathering dust or stuck in the cloud somewhere never to be seen again.
